Overview

Through joint cooperation, MacroMedics® and a leading thermoplastics manufacturer have designed a new line of thermoplastics offering high rigidity and very low shrinkage with near transparency while processing the material.

Thermoplastic masks in different shapes and styles

MacroCast thermoplastic mask is available in different perforations, coatings and shapes, with and without L-profiles attached.

Physical-chemical properties of the thermoplastic masks

  • Plastic “memory” and ease of remoulding
  • X-ray transparency
  • Maintenance of the material’s properties through multiple application cycles
  • Stretching capacity up to 20% for thermoplastics with foam coating and over 60% for the non-sticky thermoplastics
  • Long shelf life
  • Biocompatibility
  • Moisture resistance
  • Excellent conformability
  • Ease of application, removal and adjustment
  • Low- to no shrinkage, depending on the material type.

Biomedical properties of the thermoplastic masks

  • Biocompatible
  • Do not contain latex of the type associated with allergic reactions, e.g. products manufactured from natural rubber latex, or components derived from natural latex.
  • Do not contain N-Methulpyrolidone
  • Do not contain Phthalates (specifically the restricted modifications DEHP, DBP, BBP and DIBP)
  • Do not contain PVC
  • Do not contain substances of animal origin
