Overview
The highest level of safety and security allows you and your patients to experience true confidence and a stronger sense of calm. In high-dose-rate (HDR) brachytherapy, a high-energy radiation source is placed immediately adjacent to or directly within the tumour site. Because the radiation is so finely focused, physicians can perform this therapy as a convenient series of short outpatient procedures. Of course, when powerful radiation sources such as Iridium-192 are utilized at doses exceeding 12 Gy/hr-1d, safety is a major concern.
